Our Work

The Indian Ocean Memorandum of Understanding (IOMOU) on port State control (PSC) in the Indian Ocean aims to identify and eradicate sub-standard ships from the Indian Ocean. The Secretariat of the Indian Ocean Memorandum of Understanding (IOMOUS) is based at Goa in India. The Secretariat is governed by and accountable to the Committee of the IOMOU on port State control.

It acts under the direction of the Committee and assists the Committee in its activities including conducting meetings. Our work includes:
  • Preparation and hosting of committee meeting documents for the member Authorities and Observers.
  • Making available all the previous meeting documents and Reports for members.
  • Arranging for the reporting of Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) inspections, for particular time period, as per decision taken by the Committee. 
  • Arranging for the trainings, seminars within the IOMOU region. Request nomination for the trainings announced by other MoUs and International Maritime Organization (IMO). Provide for the financial support to the nominated participants as per the laid down procedures of the IOMOU.
  • Preparation of Annual Report as per the decision taken by the Committee. Drawing of statistics from the database and prepare statistical analysis, graphs etc. and publish the Annual Report on the website.
  • Under Performance Evaluation it generates statistical reports related to various fields from the database for monitoring performance parameters, of Flag, Recognized Organization, place of inspection, deficiencies (ISM and Non-ISM), inspecting Authority, number of inspections, number of inspections having zero deficiencies.
